So I’m sure many people are wondering if this plan will actually work or not. Depends on what you mean work. Will it make you lose weight? Yeah it’ll make you lose weight. Don’t get too excited yet let me explain. For day one the military diet claims to give you 1400 calories, but unless you are going to be pan frying a very fatty piece of meat, according to my calculations that number is closer to 1300 calories. On day 2 they say that you get 1200 calories and on day 3 they claim you get 1100. Both of these numbers seem accurate and match what I came up with. I don’t know how much you know about calories, but all of these numbers are pretty low. In fact this is a very low calorie diet, and that is the ONLY reason why it works. It has nothing to do with the food they tell you to eat, or how the meals are organized, it works simply because of being so low in calories. And when I say that it works I mean unless you weigh under 120lbs your going to lose weight on this diet. That’s not necessarily a good thing. This diet is basically a high protein, low calorie diet which is nothing special. As long as you spend three days eating under 1200 calories you will probably lose weight Military diet, atkins diet, standing upside down on your head diet. You’re going to lose weight almost no matter what you eat if the daily totals are that low. The military diet demonstrates this with the poor nutritionless meals they recommend. Common sense should tell you this is definitely not a healthy eating plan.The acsm or american college of sports medicine also does not recommend that you go under 1200 calories if you’re a woman and not under 1800 calories if you’re a man. They proceed to say that self starvation will actually slow your metabolic rate significantly. So almost all men and most women will be slowing their metabolic rate during this diet. Which brings me to one very important question for you: what happens after the 3 days? You’re just going to take the results you earned, put them in your pocket, go pig out and call it a day? What do you think happens at the end of these 3 days of deprivation. Or were you really under the impression that you would keep the weight off. Why don’t you just start brushing your teeth for only 3 days, and showering for 3 days. I mean I’m sure the rest of the time you should smell fine. Also you probably won’t lose 10 lbs in the three days. I’m willing to bet that claim came from a very heavy man that was used to eating a lot more. So most men and especially women will probably not lose 10lbs in the 3 days. And to top that off a lot of the weight lost will be muscle and water weight. I’m pretty sure people go on diets to lose body fat…yeah Getting your body to look the way you probably want it to look does not take 3 days. Just like smelling clean doesn’t take only 3 days of effort. You have to put in a consistent effort every day to stay clean, the results from showering don’t last forever. So to answer your question once and for all, can you lose weight on the Military diet yes. And you can also lose weight from eating 240 pieces of gum per day.
